Brock University - Interactive Arts and Science

Interactive Arts and Science is a program offered at Brock University. Interactive arts and Science is based on digital interactive technology. Because it is only a five-year-old program it’s very flexible being in a university environment. It is constantly changing to accommodate the needs of the students. By taking Interactive Arts and Science you will study theories and concepts about virtual and augmented realities, but most important video games. The program is very open to what you want to get out of it; if you are an artist you can learn to create objects and environments that will fill digital space. If you are more into programming you can designate your time to learning different coding languages. If neither of these interest you, you can focus on the theory.
The first couple of years of Interactive Arts and Science, you will explore different forms of digital media. You will learn the basics of photoshop, illustrator, and flash along with digital video and 3D modeling.
In later years you will learn essential tools to create a video game. Time is designated to create a video game from scratch. The initial concept for the game starts in the classroom. The narrative, art, and programming is done entirely by students, with supervision from an instructor.
If you are a young artist or computer nerd looking to express yourself in new media than you have found the perfect place to do so.
